19th Annual SHOOT New
Directors Showcase Celebrates Class of 2021

SHOOT’s 19th Annual New Directors Showcase Reel made its premiere online this week. The NDS Class of 2021 offers a total of 31 up-and-coming directors.

The field includes 15 women and 14 directors who are unaffiliated with a production company. The work spans commercials, PSAs, spec advertising, short films, music videos, documentary shorts and features, a TV pilot, comedy, drama and dramedy, among other disciplines and genres.

Filmmaker backgrounds are far ranging from acting to photography to an ad agency pedigree, work in the art department on theatrical movies, film school-educated and self-taught, even feature film producing. This year's body of NDS-recognized work runs the gamut from AFI student thesis films all the way to a 2021 Sundance Film Festival award-winning feature documentary.
