"A brilliant and spirited series" - LES ECHOS
É T O I L E Set in New York City and Paris, Étoile follows the dancers of two world-renowned ballet companies, as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions by swapping their most talented stars. From the executive producer of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
"ÉTOILE is
a Celebration of What It Means to Be Human" Creators/writers/directors/showrunners Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino join KCRW to discuss the meaning of their new comedy series. “It's emotion. It's physical. It's very human,” says Sherman-Palladino. "There's a race against time with dance. You can only do it for so long. So we wanted to show the humanity in it, that strength and athleticism is fleeting." LISTEN HERE
How the Sherman-Palladinos Built the International Cast of ÉTOILE The globetrotting story required an international ensemble versed in both acting and dance, so it was all about finding the ideal person for each part. “The mixture of performers was really cool. more meaningful than perfect dialogue: an expanded Palladino family that now stretches from New York to Paris and beyond. READ HERE
How ÉTOILE Filmed on Location at Lincoln Center and the Palais Garnier “Lincoln Center was really generous and gave us a lot of incredible access, including to the Metropolitan Opera House, to use their lobby,” says creator/writer/director/showrunner Daniel Palladino. “You’re also asking an audience to buy into a world that’s not their world,” Amy Sherman-Palladino adds. “The more you can make them feel the space and exactly where the characters are, the more they can fall
in love with the whole package.” READ HERE
